Congratulations to Antony Watts - Winner of the 2006 Ayrshire Classic
Antony sealed his Ayrshire Golf Classic victory with an excellent final round of 37 points over the wonderful links of Prestwick which in the end guaranteed that he wasn't going to be caught. However, not far behind were Owen Bonnar on 125 points and John Chambers who finished with 124 points who both produced 38 points to set up a thrilling climax to this years event.
The prizegiving dinner has become a traditional way to cement the friendships that have developed over the week and this year was even more sociable than ever with the fantastic three piece Scottish Folk band to sign it off the week in style.
So that was that for another year and the word all round that it was a wonderful week of golf and Scottish hospitality helped by some superb Scottish golf courses.
What more could you ask for on a visit to Scotland's South West ...

Day 3 - Irvine Bogside
Conditions improved somewhat for the trip up the Ayrshire coast to Irvine Bogside Golf Club on day three of the Ayrshire Golf Classic, grey skies made way for an afternoon of sunshine, however the wind was still swirling from the south-west making it tough once again for scoring.

Day 1 - Turnberry Kintyre Course
It was a typically Scottish start to the greatly anticipated Ayrshire Golf Classic today, with a number of golfers from around the globe tee-ing off in wet & windy conditions. The Scottish weather , however, could not dampen the spirits of the competitors, as they battled it out across the highly acclaimed Kintyre course at Turnberry, on Ayrshire's west coast.
Building on the challenges laid down by the famous old Arran course, the Kintyre is links golf at its exhilarating best. Many commented that the conditions were challenging at times, but that the few intervals of glorious sunshine combined with stunning views of Arran and the Turnberry lighthouse made it all worthwhile. Infact, scores were actually higher than average for day one in any Scottish Golf Classic.
